Help! I've got a 82 xj1100 that dropped a valve,I replaced the motor with a 78 xs1100 but after installed it would'nt fire, so I replaced all the ingition parts plus the wiring harness from another xs1100, motor still won't fire, all the parts I got are good, got em from andress weiss and he knew they were alright, I'm stumped, done everything I can think of and out of ideas.

You may already know all this, but if your still using the XJ brain box, it has ALL the advance built into it, so no mech or vac advance is used if I understand that beast correctly.

Also, when you installed the pickup coils, did you verify which coil went to which pickup? If you get them swapped, the bike will not fire. DAMHIK You could try swapping the coil plugs up under the tank. It has been known to work.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

One other thing, check and double check that your kill switch is in the center position. Just a little bit to the right or left will not allow the bike to fire. Often this switch is bumped when doing maintenance on a bike and is easily overlooked.
