I did about 22 years ago (not long after buying the bike). I was goosing it in 1st gear and then the front decided to raise up (kinda like a horse that got spurred too hard). Scared the crap out of me, hit the rear brake and decided not to do that again.

    • A younger man

When I was a younger man (dumber man) I pulled wheels all the time on my XS750 Special and my Fazer. The XS would pull the tire off in 1st and 2nd, the Fazer 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th (6 speed) When I got the XS750 brand new, it would leak a little grease from the rear end seal every time I hit 100+ mph. I told the dealer and he said "how often do you hit a 100+mph?" I said, everytime I get on the bike I have none it on my XS1100SF, but not on purpose, the older you get, the more brittle your bones, the harder the pavement

      • yes it's fun and makes me smile, not unlike carving a corner with more lean angle than needed and adding gas to correct, I just can't help myself

        • Wheelie

I drove on SR4 in Florida with wife, We saw rain coming so pulled over under a overpass and waited it out. When the rain was over I had to try to merge into 70 miles an hour heavy traffic. I also had a vibrate cut into the edge of the highway and a 1 inch lip from a top dressing of black top. Well I hit second gear hard and up the front tire came about 6 inches, hit third quick and down she came.

          • Ha, several times. It scared the crap out of me the first time -- I had stalled it at an intersection when I just bought the bike trying to feel the limitations. I was fiddling with the choke, and realized there was a car behind me (quite patiently, I thought I was alone). Started it and dropped that clutch a little too quickly . To be honest I didn't think the pig quite had it in her with my big butt on the seat, but when I'm wrong I'm wrong!

I try not to do it too much, it's one thing to pull a wheelie on a light supermoto or supersport, but these bikes are a little large and I don't think the landings are as gently as they could be

            • by accident

i was riding with a friend of mine he was on a kawasaki 440.he took off from a light so i shot up next to him and cracked the throttle wide open as i went by him and the tire came off the ground about a foot. i soon pulled into a parking lot calm my nerves and release the seat cover from my crack. i would have never thought it would come up that easy.

              • Wheelie!

Shortly after I got my bike I decided it would be fun to race this guy on an R6 Yamaha at a stop-light. My clutch hand got a little excited and the front wheel came off the ground, but I didn't give up. I held on through the intersection and actually beat the guy to the next light. My blood was pumping pretty hard after that and I rode like my dad the rest of the way home. (My dad rides 5mph below the speed limit all the time, no matter what!)

                • Nope and not gonna try...I'm too poor to replace the parts trying. As heavy as an XS is I cringe at the stress that it would produce on the bike and me.
