Is missouri the south? I've said that quite a few times, never while riding though, I don't drink and ride. I know it'd be a matter of when I went down, not if.

That's a good idea anyway. So is replacing the coils. I was going about 100 miles per tank prior to new Mikes XS coils, now I hit 117 sometimes. But I wouldn't think there was anything wrong with your bike besides typical age stuff. These are long heavy bikes. In stock form I wouldn't call them easy to get up. It could even be in the drive train. I know my stock clutch springs were jello when I first got the bike. I wonder if a little clutch slippage makes it a little harder to get it up also.

        Can I change my answer?

I was having problems with a little oil in the airbox over time so I rerouted the air hose and put a breather on the end. I then cleaned the air filter and housing. I then rerouted the fuel hose from the petcocks to my shut off valves (I found the hoses kinked a touch). I then sync'd the carbs with my homemade sync gauge. I then checked pickup coil wires and found them to be good. Finally, I trimmed 1/4" off the spark plug wires that go into the boots.

        The result:

While accelerating in 1st and if I jerk the handle bars back, I can get the front tire off the ground like an inch or two (that's with the 850 final drive, fairing, and 3/4 tank of fuel). It's not a real wheelie but at least I can get it off the ground. I kinda wish I did all the above things before I did the final drive swap to feel the acceleration of stock gearing, but I'm too happy with the 850 drive to go back.

That's good to know. I have that 850 midnight rear drive on the way and I was afraid that I would loose too much take off power...

            Geezer...

All my unicycling has been done on a 750 final drive. Once you get yours installed.. after a couple days, you'll be used to it, and love it just like the rest of us.

              I probably shouldn't......

I'm hesitant to post this, but here goes!

Here's a little clip I put on Youtube. It's been pointed out that because I have the 4" over length front fork tubes that my bike is more primed to do wheelies!? Also it has the little big bore kit in it, so it does have a little more OOMPH power! And it also has the STOCK Final Drive, I like revving! Also my luggage/saddlebags are lightweight aluminum, only weigh about 20 lbs max, so no real extra leverage there!!

              Godzilla Roars

The thing is, folks also look at my other clips, from a few years ago when I did a few runs at the local race track..POOR PERFORMANCE I must say!!

But this is where I did one hell of an unexpected WHEELIE! I had already made a first run next to the Harley with the Screamin' Eagle kit, and was wanting to try to do a stronger run. I revved it up to 5K, and was trying to take off, fanning the clutch, but was wearing very bulky gloves, and ended up dumping part of the clutch lever, which then brought the front end STRAIGHT UP!! Thank goodness for long legs, was able to hold on, and turn the throttle down and brought it back down and then finished the run. But that's why the guy at the starting line was making those wheelie type movements of his arms in the air when I rolled up to the line for yet another try!

Have a good laugh on me!!

Don't feel to bad TC, first time we took the Cutlass to the strip and unbolted the exhaust but still had street tires on it. I got to the line, hit the line lock on the front brakes and cranked the RPMS up to about 2500 on the 502 with about 3k lock up torque converter, tires were just ready to turn over. Lights ran down and I relased the line lock and stomped the pedal and proceeded to eat the tires up. I shifted the thing up into second, then third and still no grab and came REALLY close to the wall. Had to come all the way out of it, let it grab and then make the rest of the run in third. Ended up at 15.28 in a proven 12.25 car.

Never again will I uncork the exhaust without the big meat in place.
