  • Installing Dynojet III kit

Does anyone have a Dynojet III kit installed in their 78 or 79 carbs. I have misplaced the instructions and don't know where the needle jet circlip is suppose to go and how to install the air jets that have no threads on them.

    Does this help?
I picked on the part # and got some instructions. Don't know if they are correct.

Thanks for the link. I was over there yesterday evening and in email contact with Dynojet. They tell me that they did not produce any jetting kits for the 78 and 79 models so the kit is most likely for an 80 model. Given that the carbs between 78-79 and 80 are somewhat different I doubt that I will be able to make use of this kit that came with the K&N POD filters. Looks like I will have to jet this engine the "old school" way.

If you are not going to use the kit, PM me, I might be willing to buy it. I have need of one right now.

Now on a different note. Tech support at Dynojet tells me "its a very very old kit and they do not make them any more and can not offer up any info. So I went through every bag of manuals i have and i FOUND the instructions. It turns out that this kit is actually for a 1980 engine and I do know that the 1980 engine used carbs with different slides and jetting.
            ______________________________________________
The question is. Other then the drilling of the slides "side hole" because the bit for that is not in the kit anymore, Should the jets still be acceptable to use on my 78 model with 79 carbs? What do you think?
The other option would be to jet the bike "old school" as per my memory and the guidance from here at channel 11.

3/32 dill size.As far how much better do they work?Well I'm not supper impressed.I would have to say I have more top end.But it's been a battle setting up the carbs, and getting the bike to idle and run good in hot and cool weather. Before I installed the kits the carbs were much easier for me to set up. But that might be because of my lack of skill and patients. It would be nice to have access to a dyno for a day.I also found the instructions I don't know if I can scan and post. But if you want them I'll fax to you.Just PM me your fax #.Terry

Im running the DJ kit, with pods and a fairly open 4-1 exhaust,
im really happy with the set up, the bike has really good accelleration
right from off idle, I was chasing the lack off power off idle for a long time,
was my inlet valves to tight, something to look at maybe.
Also the instructions say 4 turns out on the mixture screws, that was way to rich for me, mines set out at around 2 turns.
