  • Air Filter

I'm searching for a replacement air filter for my '80SG. I found a K&N for $48.00 at Bike Bandit and a filter at Parts'n'more for $18.00. Does anyone know the difference?
    Thanks,
    joe

The K&N is a 'good forever' washable element that you clean and use over and over.

The other is likely the stock paper element that you throw away when you change it.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

The parts n more filter was too tall for my air housing. I ended up having to go with a Uni filter.

I think I still have the parts n more filter somewhere. If you IM me your address I will send it to you for free (assuming you don't live in some distant third world country).

If you have a 78 or a 79 airbox, the unifilter van get caught-up in the box's keeper pins, making them impossible to remove. That foam is TOUGH stuff. I had to do surgery with i Ginsoo knife and a prybar to remove mine.

I've had a UNI filter catch fire when the engine backfired. I didn't realize it until months later when I opened up the air box. K+N's only for me now. Ah, another air filter thread.

Thanks again and I will pass the favor forward.

I have the same problem with the parts n more filter on my 78 E. Its just too tall. Gonna have to find another one somewhere, but don't want to dpend the $$ on the K&N.

I ran into the same problem with the partsnmore filter. But after comparing the height to the old filter I found it was the same except for the foam gasket on the new filter. Scraped it off and have had it in for almost 3 years.
