I think TC hit the nail on the head. When I look at those blacked out lights, I do see the cool look factor, and if your building a show bike or garage queen then go for it. But for a rider that will be out with the world of idiots we ride with, you are taking away some of the attention getters on the bike.

IMO your taking away to much of what someone might see of your bike from a distant. For that young impatient driver waiting for that big truck your behind to get past so they can turn left.... into you!! Why, because they did not see you. Yeah that makes it their fault, but I don't think it will help much to put "He was right, the other driver was at fault" on my tombstone. JMHO.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Back in the 80's i put the head and tail light covers on my Camaro as all the kids in High school did. They were a hit at car shows and they quickly disappeared from the scene.I know they are still available, but also got tickets from the police for having them on at night, and had to take them off for inspection. Also one night i was following a friend who had them on his car and almost hit him because i didn't notice the brake lights were on,so i removed mine.

Sure they look cool but are they safe? Is it really a good idea to partially conceal your running, signal, brake lights or all three?

Cool and dead aren't usually used in the same sentence, ever wonder why?

        Just my opinion, YMMV

Totally agree-bad enough some cage drivers say-"I didn't see them"let alone cover up something that is hard to see in day and night as well.

it is just as brite in direct sunlight.......but i know it may hinder the visablity a little bit but it still acceptible and can bee seen ....but here soon i might switch to LEDs but idk but it will make them alot brighter...but the only reason i even night shaded the signals it because when i come to black cars, bikes, atv, dirt bikes everything is going to be 2 basic colors BLACK AND CROME. i really appreacate all you comments and concerns but its a loveit or hate it thing...

              Hey Lee,

If you're cool with them, then that is really all that matters. I think most of us find some small way to personalize our bikes to make them a little different from the next.

              Cheers,

Everyone has limits. Just riding a bike is enough for some cage drivers to think you're nuts. Some folks ride without helmets, boots, and other protective gear. Hell, some guys ride in shorts and a tanktop. As long as you understand and accept the risks, go for it. I feel the same way about bobbers, choppers, cafe mods. Everyone is entitled to do what they want with their bike as long as they understand and accept the consequences. ie. sore butts on hardtails.

My dad spent 9 months in a full body cast after a bike crash. I fully understand the risks inherent on making my way on two wheels. Would I black out my signals? Probably not. Does it look cool? Hell yes.

                Good rides to ya.

Not saying i don't like it-i do and it is unique, but would hate to be involved in an accident(God forbid)and have the cage driver say-"i couldn't see the signals on after all they are blackened out".Was riding my Jeep in PA and got hit by a dump truck because he said he couldn't see my right turn signal because i had guards on them.He got a ticket for following too close and i had a dented drivers side quarter panel.
