I just put a different tank on my '79 XS11 standard till I can get mine sent to be Renu'd in PA. I noticed a line that looks like a vacuum line off the top of my transmission but have no clue where it goes. It is just under the carbs. Any ideas? Oh there is an assembly next to it that resemblies the top of a carb.

thanks for any help I get gang.

You may be talking about the oil pressure vent? Not sure exactly the corrent name for that. Does it point towards the right side of the bike? Is the rubber line something like 12-14mm in width? If that is it, then it would connect to your airbox near the top middle.

      hmmm

While looking at the directions in removing the air housing i see the same hose sticking up from the back side of it. just where the seat mounts. Not sure if i can put the picture on here off the CD with the manual on it. I'm trying though. GRRR can't get it to transfer over.

This picture is rather busy looking, but the hose is #50 and you can follow the line to the top of the airbox to where it is supposed to mount, doesn't give a good picture of the "nipple" on the airbox...I say nipple has I can't think of a better word right now

The hose you are talking about is a transmission vent tube. It goes over the air box and there is a steel tab over the top air box mount screw that has a U shaped bend in it to hold the tube up.

BYW, I've always found the air box easier to work with when I tossed the stock screws and replace them with Allen head screws.
