QuickSilver Vetter Fairing

Anyone have the Quicksilver (smaller) fairing on their XS11? I think this one was made for the XS750?

I just picked one up and want to know how easy (Hard) they are to mount or if anyone has any pics of one.

Looks pretty simple, might have to customize the mounting bracket, looks like its been broke/welded a few times......but the fairing is in really nice shape for 30 years old.

I found everything on the (www.CraigVetter.com) Site for mounting, manual, etc..

The fairings are all universal. You just need the right mounting bracket. If you're handy with a welder, have fun designing your own. I suggest powder coating it before final installation though. Be sure you utilize the bolt holes in the frame down-tubes that face forward, just next to where the horns mount. That should be your main point of support for the fairing bracket.

Yes, pretty handy with a welder and have friends with a machine shop.

But, I will utilize the existing down down tube holes (which the current bracket does not) only uses the u-bolts around the bottem.

The brackets are pretty crude right now..... They also have 1" x 3" risers on them? Not sure why, but maybe the brackets weren't mounted correctly and had to raise the fairing up......??

Also, it came with Round Turn Signals, mine on the bike are Square.
Not sure if I can un-mount the stockers and re-mount them on the fairing? or maybe find a set of rear Square ones with the mounting brackets and mount them on the fairing.....

I will come up with something, since the headlight is square, want it look similar.....

Generally, when you install a fairing, you remove the turn signals and the headlight bucket, turn the ears inward (you may need to unscrew the spedometer cable from the spedometer to do this), and mount the fairing over the top of it all. I believe the quicksilver was designed to have the stock signals from the bike moved to the fairing, so you should be fine with that. I agree - since the headlight is square, the signals should be too.

Thank you!! I will ask him a few questions and if he has any other pics of the EXACT bracket so I know. It's hard to tell from the fuzzy pic.... Plus is states it is NOT the exact bracket.

He sent me pics of the actual bracket, the documentation is dated 1981, it is brand new in a box with everything!!

I will definately will get it, way better then the one I have on it.!!

I dunno about pricing, but you might also try this guy on ebay. He says he has 3 trailers full of vetter parts, and you just have to ask, and he'll sell it if he has it.

Thanks all !! I do have the new (NOS) bracket on the way! Should be here in a few days. Can't wait! Should be a breeze to mount now! No messing around with a mucked up/cobbed up bracket. Will post pics once I get to that point.

That should make life good. My experience has been that those who get trouble in handling with a fairing tend to have modified or homemade mounts that don't properly position the fairing. A properly mounted fairing should improve handling in almost all conditions.

Here's the bracket I got from the Guy on Ebay, Brand new NOS with everything...



Here it is almost done, just need to get some rubber washers and stainless bolts
and mount the turn signals.


Almost ready to go. I am going to try and remount the stock turn signals with some homemade brackets..

Finally got everything mounted, made new brackets for the turn signals and tied them into the front mounting holes inside the pockets, so everything has extra support.

I ended up ordering new turn signals (LOCKHART PHILIPS SHORT STALK II TURN SIGNALS), smaller rectangle ones (Dual element), so there was not a lot of mass hanging out and they look much better than the Very large round ones that came with it.

We toured about 140 miles on Sunday and everything worked great.! I think it even helped the gas mileage a bit, also much less wind too! (main reason I got it).

Just need to change the headlight, it's very dim.
