I have a set of MikesXS right controls for my special coming in the mail either later today(7/30) or tomorrow. I just got my drag bars yesterday so I can let you know about the wire length. A fellow Xser informed me that the right controls were nearly plug and play while the left controls were a lot more 'rearranging' and rewiring to make fit. I can keep you posted if you'd like...Josh Yoquelet -- I'm having dreams of my XS

2. would it be better to just replace the whole assembly for the starter side of things as well?
Also, I see a lot of guys just buy rebuilt controls on eBay... or you can just ask AndreasJosh Yoquelet -- I'm having dreams of my XS
