I decided to follow one of Randy's posts and add an additional ground.I looked on E-Bay and saw a guy was selling a spare ground kit with 4 grounds so i bought it.I took a ground and attached it from the starter to the allen head bolt by the middle drive where it connects to the negative side of the battery.I had to cut the mounting plastic tab covering the starter so i would be touching metal.Somehow i lost the bolt that attaches the plastic cover to the starter.I took off the starter and i looked but cannot find the bolt.I believe it is a M6 x 15 mm bolt.Don't know where this might be as i looked with a flashlight but could not locate it.I don't know if it landed on the floor, but could it have made its way into where the starter goes into?Started the bike up but where could it have gone?

If you're sure it's not on the floor or kicked across the garage under the dryer lint vent hose and it didn't fall into the engine when you removed the starter:
Check the space between the Middle Drive assembly and the engine/transmission case.
See if it's hung up in the wiring loom or vent/overflow hoses along the bottom left and back side of the engine.

It's slightly less astronomically improbable if you removed the starter before you found the bolt but the bike started afterward without making horrible noises as the primary shaft and HyVo chain ground themselves and little bolt to shreds.
It's in the oil pan or under the dryer vent hose.-- Scott

That critter you have living in the garage comes standard with all houses with garages or basements. Its a distant relative of the zing critter. You know the one that makes that ZING noise when you take something apart and the pieces go in several directions at once. It works in tandem with the dreaded parts eater. I think there are several of them living at my place.wingnut

So, is there an exterminator for these critters? Something like an excorcist, or a ghost buster, or a 12 guage or something?1980 SG. (Sold - waiting on replacement)

No such thing as extermination. The critters live in a symbiosis with wood, concrete and steel. I believe eliminating two of the three sides of the triangle is the only was to isolate them.

It has been postulated that there are unknown physical forces at work here. It is suspected that an antimatter or black hole anomaly is present. Elimination of any of the legs of the equitation could effect elimination of the phenomenon. Caution should be exercised as deletion of any of the 3 principles could cause a rip in the continuum resulting in deletion of all matter within the affected space.wingnut
