  • Mikes XS Coils

I went to order the coils from Mikes XS and the are out of stock, Part #17-6803. I sent them a e-mail. They do not know when the are getting more at this time. They said I could use Part #17-6810 "Single Tower XS Performance High Output Ignition Coil 3.3 OHM Primary Resistance. 15K OHM Secondary Resistance. Capable of sustained 45KV output with 12.5v DC input. Capable of sustained 75KV output with 14v DC input. Replaces stock contact point ignition coils on All 1970 & up models and works with Pamco 270/277 engine rephase ignitions. Requires 7mm. Dia. High tension
spark plug wires (order separate) and 5K OHM spark plug cap."

I dont think we can. Let me know if I am correct in this.

    Thanks all,

    Ozz

You CAN use that coil! If you have a '78 or '79 with the ballast resistor, you just bypass it connecting the two wires together. I would then tape the connection so NO METAL is left exposed. They CAN short against the tank, and cause all kinds of grief!! DAMHIKIJK

My fault. The part # is for the dual tower. Copy and pasted wrong discription. The voltage and omhs is correct. part # is for the dual tower.

OK I can use a 3.3ohm coil? Just wondering cause the othe mikes xs coils were 5ohms. If i use the 3.3ohm coil all I have to do is bypass the ballast resistor on my 80? Just want to make sure. I dont want to blow up my tci.

            Thanks all.
