As to the carb diaphrams, I must just be REALLY lucky. everytime I have had mine apart, I've had no problem getting the lip to sit in the groove as long as I want it to. Just line it up with the slide raised up a bit, the diaphram rolled crown up, and push the lip in all the way around. Lucky I guess.

I was wondering if I GENTLY warmed the rubber part with a hair dryer, It might streach enough to stay put while I put the spring and cover on. I also have a XJ650 which I had no problem like this. I may try the Yamabond idea if the hair dryer idea doesn't work
