If, when you were trying to ride it, it sounded like an M60 firing, it's the dogs.....
Time to flip the bike and do a quick transmission repair. Should be about two days to do all 4 gears that may need it.

2 days i wish, you are talking a normal person, I will go out and think it to death first, then i will clean a place out in the shead to get enought room to flip it over and then maybe i will get the wrenches out, lol
