kickstand vs. centerstand

It's just too bad that the sidestands are so cheezy. I have been considereing looking for a different model sidestand, like a harley or a goldwing or something with a bigger footprint. Has anyone done this already?

BTW, if you loose the centerstand, it is a good tool for your garage. Just slip in the pins and spin the nuts on a few turns and you are ready for maintenance! It doesn't have to fit yoy exhaust 100% for that.

I use the center stand most of the time...only use the sidestand if the bike is going to be parked for ony a few minutes, or when getting fuel. To many cases of bike tipping over on hot asphalt or unstable surfaces.

When I did use the side stand more I had a rectangular piece of 3/16 steel (4x4 or so) with a hole drilled in one end. A light cord was tied through the hole, so I could sit on the bike, flip up the stand, then pull the plate up with the sting and put plate and string in the Vetter left-hand pocket.

I had no center stand on the Mongrel when I got him, found one on Ebay and glad i put it back on..

Extremely scarey drive up the block when i see the Mongrel
tire flat (after a ride) and its lodged between the rocks and the pickup (the wrong side up?)

I end up using it most of the time.. i also don't spill fuel as ofte when refueling--- gotta try to keep that faded paint job as nice as possible..


It does clash with the slip on's, but i think i have figured out the slight modification to the tab to solve that problem..

Now where did i put that sledge hammer...????
