HI, go to the local Yamaha dealer, or you can find them online at Bikebandit.com. Any good mc repair shop should be able to order one for you if there is no dealer around. Good luck, they are not cheap, like 40.00 but they last forever. K and N makes one that you can reuse but they tend to make bikes run lean and lean is not good for the xs1100 engines. Hey Marcus,
Just checked Bike Bandit and they want $53.xx for the OEM filter and don't even show a K&N for it. I'm in the same boat as you with this, although mine is still very clean. Someone wrote a thread where he used foam filter material, and someone else used K&N filter material.

They're spendy, but I really want to keep my bike stock. I am having the Carb rebuilt as we speak. I have owned my bike for almost five years now and never had a lick of trouble until I ran the gas down and sucked some rust in to the Carburator. It's still a very sweet bike!

need a gas filter

Hey Marcust, if you sucked some rust you need a gas filter on each of your gas lines asap. Hopefully you have the two needed, if not, they will stop the rust-dirt problems. They are cheap, and easy to cut the line and pop in. There are lots of threads on how to do it, I find just get the smallest clear gas filters from any cycle shop and pop in. THe filter in the tank is almost worthless or aged and holey. Keep the bike stock and it will run forever. My bro inlaw tried the Kand N filter and it messed with his carbs running, so keep it stock. You can wash out the original filter, by using a gentle soap and brush. It saves some bucks and these filters really never get that dirty because of their location on the bike. So, gas filters, clean your air filter and ride on. Maybe you can make the XS Rally in central Ca in june? SHould be lots of XSives from the area. Mike in S.Diego

The bike only had 5k miles on when I got it in 2003. It now has 19k.
I had a XJ 750 in college so that is what I was looking for originally. I was lucky enough to find the XJ110. It had been sitting in this guys garage for almost 20 years. I had the Tank repainted without the "YAMAHA" emblems and added some chrome here and there but other then that the bike is stock. Thanks all for the suggestions!!!!
