If I grind the rust off, the points where the staples go, would be totally gone... they are flaky as it is. lol

and those spikes break off for a pastime when you try to fold them back down, too.
Years ago I got a replacement seat cover for my BSA. It was held to the pan with doubled spring clips. The cover came with a trim strip that was also held by the clips and hid them.
