That is too bad there is no title. How hard would it be to get a title in South Carolina? As I look at the speedo picture, it looks like it has 19K miles but that could be 10K!!!

              Wow!

              Unicorns DO exist!
If it is a 'Home Made" Midnite Maxim, it was well done.

Yup, but there's something just not quite right with that right side "maxim" cover and the way it overlaps the airbox. Here's what an XJ looks like:

The fork cover under the headlight is wrong:

In my image search for midnight maxim, I came across this pair.

Wonder what the Ebay cost is?

I'm seriously considering buying this Maxim if nobody else runs the bid up too high. I'd like to take my time and restore it if it is an actual midnight. I noticed it has an XS front master cylinder.

With the swirly wheels and rings on the engine covers and no YICS markings, my vote goes to it being either an XS LH with Maxim parts (1st choice)... or a Maxim with XS LH parts... but it does have great possiblities for being a nice looking bike either way...

It looks like it has the yics plug. The speedometer front cover looks to be gold too, isnt it unique to the xj? I'd buy it if it wasn't so far away.
