With the new coils, you can. Just don't get too close to ANY AM radio, and MOST FM radios. If you are running resistor plugs, AKA platinum or iridium, it won't matter quite as much.Ray Matteis

Hey John'O,
The NGK caps are much more durable, they use the smaller threaded plug end connector vs. the larger auto rounded cap..I know there are tecnical terms for them, but I can't remember them right now!
The hard plastic NGK caps are easier to remove from the plugs vs. the softer auto style.
Ozz, the old coils put out about 15Kvolts, the new ones are rated at ~35Kvolts, and so with stronger coils, stonger pulses, stronger radio frequency interference when not using resistor caps or plugs!

NGK also makes caps that fit standard automotive style plug ends. The guy at the MC shop here in town looked at me like I was painted blue when I asked for one that fit the threaded stud. He had never seen one.
FWIW, the silicone boots on automotive style wires will tear and split when exposed to kids messing with your bike, getting on and off and the such where they get moved around a lot. They also have a tendency to stick to the plug, making removal a real pain, after a couple thousand miles, they pretty much rip apart on removal.Ich habe dich nicht gefragt.

Sounds like a good excuse to replace my coils then. Like I need one, lol.
Any recomendations? Reading the threads it seems like the ones from Mikes XS are good choice. I have noticed some members using the Accel coils. Any real difference other than name and price?

I have the Accel Supercoils on my Special, and the spark seems to be a bit hotter than the Mike's coils. I have the Mike's on my Standard and they are plenty hot. The Accel's are almost $200 a pair vs. the Mike's at about $75 a pair. The Accels use the automotive plug tip connectors at both ends.2H7 (79) owned since '89

Is there a voltage differance on the accels comparied to the ones on MikesXS? If so what is it?
