    is their a check valve inside breather crankcase, that keeps oil in and lets air out if so where can i get one. talk to a 30 year motorcycle mechanic and he said ther was is there one on this bike? And. How hard is it to find and change engine piston bearings? any help would be useful

    No, there isn't a check valve on these engines. If you are getting excessive oil in the airbox, you're rings are probably bad. You could install one of these.



    Parts are still available(conrod bearings), but you must remove engine and split the cases in order to replace them.

      thanks but at high rpm,s this bike actually shoots a large stream of oil and fuel which has mixed out of the breather case tube it probably squirts about 5 to 7 feet.

        Shawnb,

        Have you overfilled the crankcase? Check oil level with the bike on the center stand, not on the side stand.

          check valve

          changing oil and filter some time this weekend seems to be a lot more than 4 quarts in bike almost two quarts came out when i took the oil filter off still a lot of oil left in bike will find out if that is the problem i sure hope so.

            yeah i hope i got about 2 quarts out when i took off the oil filter and there is more than two quart still left in it hopefully thats the problem i don't think it is the rings.

              Shaun is it possible that there is gas in the oil? If your carb needle and seats are leaking it might explain the extra amount in the engine.

              Just a thought.

                Gas in oil ?

                Take a stick put it in the oil then see if it will light if it lights right up theres gas in your oil . then you need to do the carbs or the shutoffs
