    Rubber Plug

    Hey there Schpiff,
Perhaps it's the plug that covers the synch tube on the intake port, or over the inlet port on the carb itself, since #2 has one for the Vacuum advance hose?

The rubber plugs may be meant to go in on top of the pilot screws to keep dirt and bugs out. If so, you can use them or lose them.

        Hello,
The parts microfiches for the 81 sh does not apply to all models.
My 81 SH has uncovered pilot jets. As it feeds from the bowl.
pilot jets that take the rubber plug feel from the mail jet.
If you install the rubber plug on the wrong kind, the circuit starves for fuel, or draws too much.
To determine if you need the plug, look for a small hole going from the main jet to the pilot. If there is a hole there, they need the plugs. No hole, no plug.
I have 2 sets of carbs:
the original 81 SH set - Uncovered pilot jets
set of 80 SG carbs - Unvocovered pilot jets also

You probably do not need the rubber plugs on your bike, as they are not applicable to your carbs.
