  • spooge hole cleanout

o.k. so this past wknd i did the spooge hole cleanout cuz my calipers were hangin up. front was relatively clean rear was real bad. took for test ride. seems fronts no longer hang up, seems rear still does. so i get to thinkin....do to the fact that the spooge hole is so small that the **** from an ant would clog it.., i wonder what would happen if it was drilled a little larger. now, i did not do it, but was wonderin if anyone else ever did??
    any info appreciated.

    dragging brakes

Don't know about the spooge hole modification, but if your rear caliper is still hanging up, the caliper itself probably needs cleaning. Cr@p builds up in back of the piston seal and the piston won't move smoothly. Clean it out using only new brake fluid and a small scraping tool. HTH

      redbone:

That hole is extremely small and hard to see as well as getting a small piece of stiff wire into it to clean out the gunk blocking it. A piece of a wire brush steel bristle will probably fit and push the gunk out where it can be dissolved by some fresh Dot 3.

        Spooge Hole?

Yes indeed I had the same problem- and I did drill out that pesky orifice with a very fine bit. That was some 10k miles ago- no problems- no more dragging calipers- no noticeable loss of braking power. Used a small vacuum to collect any small shavings the operation might generate. It worked- at least in my case.

You don't remember what size of drill bit you used by chance?

You can use a fine strand of copper wire, from some 18-20 gauge wire to clean out the spooge hole.
