My header pipes are blued, rusty and just looking old. I have new pipes but in front of that looks like crap. Has anyone painted headers? Anything special I need to do? i was thinking, sand them down to get all the rust specs off as well as give something for the paint to adhere to. I know there is high temp paint, as well as stove paint so i was wondering if it is something others have tried and can tell me which works better. I just want something flat black.

Ridinghard - there are a number of posts that cover painting exhausts. A search on header pipes should take you to 'em.I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

header paint
I use the Dupli-Color 1200 degree ceramic black. Works well even if the prep job isn't that good. Available at auto parts stores.2H7 (79) owned since '89
