    Hey Rhumba,

    Another alternative to the clunk is after you have the bike started and partly warmed up, shut it down, shift into 1st, and then restart and take off! Once it's warmed up, and the rpms are much lower at idle, then just holding the clutch lever in for a few seconds should allow the gears to slow down enough greatly reduce the 1st gear clunk!!
