  • Special front brakes

I just finished replacing about everything brake wise from rotors to hoses. and i never had a problem but im having a bear of a time getting the rt rotor to center correctly any ideas guys maybe it was teh 105 degree heat and the rubber mallet that fell off seat and landed on my head. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. John

BTW the 750 FD swap is the best single improvement i have done

Why is it that the smallest part can fly to the farthest part of the shop?

Loosen the axle clamp bolt, on the right fork and move the fork back/forth until it's centered.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Dont know if this could contribute but I have had the factory caliper bolts on my special bend ever so slightly right where the threaded part screws into the fork but have never been able to figure out why. Question: When you unscrew the bolt does the caliper move back and forth slightly with the bolt? If it happens it is a bear to get everything working right unless you hit that perfect spot when the bolt lines the caliper up with the rotor. I replaced mine with high grade bolts from the hardware store and have had no problems since.

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.

Thanks guys my brain was fried from the heat yesterday. tad i put in new grade 8 bolts and i jiggled fork a bit now she is perfect. its amazing how you can look at somethig for an hr walk away and look at it again and say wow how could i ahve missed that. Well time to head to sturgis later and eat some harleys. with teh FD swap its nice to cruise in 4th gear and having a real first gear what a difference.
