of now im measuring the outside of the bike of what i can get to ..
so it will be pretty basic to start out with after that i will be progressively detailed. So i have already started. Modeling wheel space, and shock space, diameters, heights etc..

oh sorry ..

i am using solidworks 2009 but will upgrade to 2010 when it comes out next month. Eventually i will make a cut out and you can see all the moving parts.. pistons, valves etc. alot of work for sure but i plan to keep the bike for 10 years or more so its worth it to me and a cool project others can benifit from.

Yes if there are other drafters out there that have any of the sold model
send it to me .. iges, step etc. i can import these and assemble them into the main assembly. so far i have 50+ parts modeled ..

all the different parts can make 10 or more custom bikes.
i have a 16 inch spoked wheel on the front of my bike but i will also draw the 17,18 and 19 inch stock wheels as i get a wheel to dimension..
several different seats to draw , etc, etc, etc,

the model will be more and more detailed but for now just blocks of resembling parts will be more like a place setter . blocks will be replaced with more detailed blocks as i go along.
this is a long road im going down. at the very end i will have all the functioning parts to the bike and even the motor and wheels will turn. lights will come on etc. Then i can truly model new parts i plan to make .

yes.. any dimensions..
its time consuming pulling off all the dimensions..

not the details.. those will come in time.. its just the basics to fill gaps in .. then i will replace those with a more detailed part.

tape measure to start and then calipers then details then texture..
thats kind of how im approaching this. otherwise things will not progress.
i have the drive shaft and now the mid section of the motor (cylinder section)


does anyone have a motor apart? i need things like the distance between cylinders . cylinder diameters. etc etc. what is the actual thickness of the head what is the actual thickness of the center section..

Thank you.. i will post my progress in about a day or so.. im much further than the model i posted yesturday. Im just taking this in bits.. sometimes i spend 5 mins sometimes 30 just depends on my schedule..

I have an engine in bits at the moment. The crank is down in LA with the rods, getting "worked over", so I can't measure that. I DO have the barrels and head here, so I'll try and take some measurements Thursday for you.
