    Noway it would hold up to gas.
    Being a mechanical engineer I have superior knowledge in the use of duct tape, baling wire...and super glue.

    I know it won't hold forever, but I thought I'd see how long it lasts. Now that I've said something like that, it'll probably crap out tomorrow.

      holding up to gas

      I did a temporary fix on carb floats that had leaked themselves full of gas. I fizzed them full of urethane foam and buttered the fill holes over with 5-minute epoxy. This was strictly to run the bike to move it while replacement floats were in transit and was a success in that. A week later the foamed floats were still working but the new floats had shown up so they were installed. Checking out the foamed floats after they were on the bench, the epoxy had softened and could be peeled off and the visible surface of the foam was looking crystalline.
