How hot/warm does your middle drive get at hiway speeds? After running at 60 plus you can't keep you hand on it for more then a few seconds. Is this normal? Seems a little warm to me???
Oil is full and clean, 80/90.

Well... you figure the motor oil is well over 200 degrees, and just the heat transfer from that alone would do that. I was hearing something on my last trip with John and Kat and noticed the same thing. I checked all the fluids again and they were fine... so I went on.

There are some serious forces being applied in that little middle drive... taking all the HP from your bike and turning it 90 degrees angle-wise has got to get things warm in there. It gives that oil a workout... so that's why you need to change it periodically. Sometimes that oil gets a pretty good stink going to it and smells very burnt. If it's been a while...Feed it some new and go on...
