  • 81 idle screws

I just picked up an 81 xs1100sh I'm rebuilding the carbs, There are caps or plugs where the idle mixture screws should be. Can I just drill the caps out and then are there just normal idle screws under them or I'm I going to mess it up when I drill them out.

I thought I would ask before messing them up.

    Thanks

Sorry Should have done a search first. I found my answer there. My bad, Yes they can be removed using a small drill bit and a wood screw.

You want to be very careful not to hit the idle screw with the drill or screw.I have a set of extractors from sears with a drill on one end and extractor on other end.The drill end is just long enough to make it through the plug and so is the extractor. Both are left hand thread.I drill right through then flip bit around and run it into the plug and the plugs spins and you can just pull it out while it spins.I have used it on 2 sets of XS carbs and a set of virago carbs and its made it a snap. Good luck Rick
