    ALL the other manufacturers used standard threads both sides.
    Actaully, I believe the Suzuki Bandit 1200 also use a left-hand thread on the right mirror. Don't know about their other models.

    If worst comes to worst, get a replacement control for the right-hand side of the XJ handlebars. They do come up on e-Bay from time to time.

      On another bike I used to have, I had the same problem. I bored out the holes, turned and threaded steel inserts and put them in with JB weld. No more problems.
