Well, I rebuilt my front m/c today and everything seemed to work OK except I can't figure out how to put the brake light switch back together. I have a spring, a copper collar and an inch long brass piece that go between the plastic piece that has the wires and the plastic piece that is in the m/c casing. Can anyone tell me how to put it back together? Also, how do you get the plastic piece out of the m/c?

If it is like my 78E or 79SF there is a hole on the bottom of the master cyl. to push up the tab on the switch. Sounds to me like the switch is broken. Take a look at Partsnmore web site for a pic of the switch. I broke mine trying to get it out.Gary

I took the one out of my XS650 and found that it has two more pieces of plastic than the one on my XS11. I guess I lost the two pieces of plastic or, more likely, the PO lost them. Time for a new switch I guess. Thanks for the reply Gary.Bill Murrin

Bill, I sent in for several orders from PartsnMore andsaw the switch for $2.00 , Yes two dollars!
I went ahead and got one since i needed a few $ to get free shipping.
Looks like the original and seems to be made good.
I don't know how they do it but allthe stuff I've gotten from them has been good quality at prices below the norm.

Man do I feel stupid?
I found the EASY way to take the switch out after Gary's response and I can't figure out why I couldn't see it to start with. I guess they could have mentioned it in the manual. I took the switch apart and everything inside fell out. I had a pan under the m/c to catch the brake fluid and everything fell in it. Only problem was that I had cleaned the pan in the driveway with the water hose before finding out I was missing the two little black parts. Well, I found them out on my old blacktop driveway and managed to put the switch back together in a working fashion. Just to be safe, I will order a new switch from partsnmore with my next order.
Has anyone used their brake pads?Bill Murrin
