  • Pick-up coil air gap

Hello i just switched my 4RO timing plate for a 2H7 one and I can't find anywhere is to what the air gap should be for my pickup coils. I did it so I can adjust the timing on my bike. I had to swap the pickup coils...I guess I should have took a measurement before ripping everything apart...:-(

    Tks
    Peter.

I believe the pickup coil to actuator gap is 0.7mm/0.0275" I saw that in a TopCat post somewhere here. You could search his posts by user name to find it yourself...

          Anything

close to that will work fine. The way those things work is they work or they don't. There is no in between nor different intensity ratings at different distances.

Man I took off the timing plate and put the original one back on. The bike will not stay running, I can get to bit for a second but than that's it! I used brass feeler gauges but it no where near starts like it used to. I can only think it is the air gap setting, how accurate does the setting has to be?? I'm going to trailer the bike to a local mechanic for him to get it to run and for a safety and cert...

              Ballast resistor....

If it only runs while you have the starter button pushed, it's because the ballast resister is disconnected..... Stops when you release the starter button?

My bike is the one that they stopped using the ballast resistor. My TCI is the 4R0 not 2H7....I have the Midnight Special model.

                Cheers
