  • grips off

I assume the old handlebar grips are stuck/pushed on? So all I have to do is pull or cut them off, clean the surface and stick the new ones on?

Thought I'd ask before doing something daft - again

Easy way is use a SHARP knife to slit the old grips and take them off. Be careful with the right grip, and the throttle tube is plastic. I and many other people use hair spray to install the new grips. Spray it inside the grip, push on and position, let dry. It helps the grips go on, and then sticks them to the bar and throttle tube WITHOUT the worry of how to take them off later.

Oft times, if one wishes to save the old grips and has an air compressor, they take an air nozzle, insert it underneath the edge of the grip and blast it away from the handlebar.
This technique is also used when installing. The blasts of air inflate the grip and one can then inch it up the handlebars.

A brand of hair spray, usually cheap. that's all you need, is the cheap stuff. The grips don't care if they feel like rubber!
