Hello any reason why when I turn the ignition key to the "ON" positon I hear and feel a clicking sound on the alternator cover. And the green neutral light does not come on and I can not turn over the engine. But when I jump out the starter relay it will turn over. THen after a while it is fine.

    Any ideas??

      Hi Peter,

Assuming that you have an XS, When the power goes "ON" the magnets start to work, so if something clicks, something is moving!

Check that both sets of coils are secure in the cover; the inners are held by the three allen screws you see, the outer is held by bolts inside the cover.

If you have an XJ, I really don't know!
