78's would do 11's with an XSperienced rider.
79's should be very close to same.
80's+ most likely 13's and maybe a little better with a jockey like operator.
On a modified XS (the hot rod XS) PO said it turned 10.4 in the quarter
Personally not into tracks or drag strips. Was "practicing" starts on the street in front of my shop awhile back and doing some wheelies in first and second...wound up cracking the clutch basket . The hot rod (after pulling the carbs several times and adjusting floats, trial/error) has a lot more power than a stocker.

The '81 SHOULD be able to do about a 12.5 in the 1/4, if you are about 170 pounds. The '78 would do 11.8 to 11.9 with almost anybody on it, back in '78. The fuel is different today, and the range AND performance suffers because of it.Ray Matteis

Once again ShawnB posts the unintelligible...
Hey, tiredoffixing... you might want to take the cap locks off on your keyboard. In a forum, all caps looks like you are screaming everything and it's a bit annoying.
Just a suggestion.

Back in 1987 my friend who owned a dealership in NJ took my SG and his 79(i believe it was a SF) up to a drag strip by where i live.He told me both bikes turn mid 10's but fell to a Suzuki GS1150 set up for the strip.Mind you this was back in 87 and my friend at that time couldn't have weighed more than 160lbs.Depends on the rider.1980 XS1100 SG
