    Rotor Testing

I am replacing the stator on my bike, and want to know how to test the rotor while I'm at it.

I put some tools around it and noticed the center part had a weak but noticeable magnetic field.

    Thanks,

    Eric

You're testing the field coil/rotor. The magnetic attraction test is the right test, so sounds like your field coil is working OK. There is no test for just the rotor.

Well, I actually did that test after taking the stator assembly off, but either way produced a noticeable field

        Electrical

        Before any difinitive electrical tests...
have you cleaned the connectorss/plugs ???
An XS thats been sitting has a tendincy for corrosion which can result from low charging to miss-firing or the turn signals not blinking..etc..
