    Strom,
If all of your tac's are doing the same thing then it is likely to be an elctrical connection as has been discussed.
One other thing that I have noticed on mine however. You have been saying that the weather is lousy there at the time, you have not mentioned the temps. When I first get the Dragon out in the spring the tac always fluctuates like you have mentioned until it warms up a little more. I have tried everything including some dry lube and the problem is still there. Mentioned it to the PO one time a few years back and he said that it had always done it. Maybe the things are allergic to cold weather??
Dont know if anyone else has noticed this but if they have they will chime in. Maybe Fredintoon would know, he also lives where it never seems to get warm enough soon enough.
Had the Dragon out and on the loose last Thursday, sun had melted enough of the icebergs in the driveway to where I could pick my way out to the road. Got a whole four miles on her and then winter returned to Wisconsin, DRAT!!!

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!

Had 20 centigrade alredy, but tbh, I wasnt checking the instruments too much then.... been snowing the whole day today so.... I hope it doesnt stick.
Will have to wait for a bit warmer weather methinks.... to try out that theory.
If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

        results of tach surgery

Tach on my 79F has been erratic for years. Finally took it apart and PC board was corroded. Scraped corrosion off and cleaned with toothbrush. Heated up a few solder joints that looked iffy. Also sprayed a few shots of WD40 in there. Final result, smooth as glass thru all ranges!

This could be what mine did......the tach dosent register at all.....i noticed that there is a connector behind the fuse box that is toast.......could this be the problem???

I know mine is the tach, because the one I had on right before I changed it out didn't wobble and the new one does.

Yes, That is a BIG PROBLEM!! Geezer has the new connectors, and cutting off a little wire and the old one (one side at a time to keep them strait) and replacing the connectors will do wonders. You probably are NOT charging much, or you are OVER charging. I would also check the three prong connector on the ignition switch. It seems to be the second most common "fail point".

I was going down the strip infront of everyone and the battery died on me while driving....when i hit the bottem of the slope i had to get off and push........embarassing......but there were 2 Harleys that had the same problem, so i didnt feel to bad.
