  • Guru Question

Anyone have a spare ignition switch laying around to measure the bolt holes center to center where it attaches to the upper triple tree (exactly in mm)? I need to know whether I need to buy another xs11 switch off Ebay or get the Hayabusa switch and modify the wire harness. I hope it's the former. The Hayabusa tree is 48mm Center to Center.....thanks

    Just measured spare from Special.

Inside edge bolt hole to inside edge=42.00mm
    Outside edge bolt holes=54.0mm

It seemed like it was 48mm center to center!

I measured the bolt holes on a standard upper triple tree. Also 48 mm center to center.

I get 63mm from mounting surface to key slot. This is on a 79 standard.

            Thanks

I appreciate it. The Hayabusa tree ignition heighth is 60mm as well. So it looks like an entire Hayabusa front end will bolt on to the xs11 frame with just a custom 30x47 bearing....Amazing......thanks again

              Your Hayabusa moda sounds sweet!

So, have you got a picture of this front end swap? How far along is the process? I have been thinking about doing the same thing, a Hayabusa front end, but I don't know if I need to buy a special bearing or have someting machined. Any pointers?
              Thanks!

                Short and simple

Get a 30x48x15 tapered bearing and turn down the outer diameter of the RACE by 1mm. It takes a special lathe offset grinding attachment to do this because of the race hardness. Good machine shops have these and will probably charge 20-30 bucks for the service......Don't waste your time trying to find a 30x47x15 tapered bearing....they DO NOT exist......
