When I got my eleven, a friend had picked it up from a wrecking yard. The PO tried to outrun the cops and eventually layed it down. And appearently it wasn't the first time because he went down on the PU side. Yet, the stator side cover was all torn up too. I just got new ones off the bay. Not too big of a deal to replace, really.

I am thinking that the case guards did what they were supposed to do! I had some 3-points with highway pegs on them that punched holes into the case cover (alternator) which caused major problems...

Back when I was racing, I had my brother-in-law rebuild my covers and cases when I went down , he was a boat mechanic and used to rebuild props, but unless you know someone it can get expensive.

I've tested the 3 point guards several times. Each time the bottom of the side cases suffered some...but not to the point of disabling the bike. Once went done with a set of highway pegs on em (low speed) spun the bike around on the peg stuck in the asphault . Been lucky as I've stayed on the bike... sorta... except once. That one still pains me

          btw,
just checked my SH. It's right cover is just a little worse looking than yours. Ground down to the lower bolt. Engine is painted so it's not noticeable with out a close look.
