    "I see how it is..."

Gangin' up on the ol' Prometheus, huh?
Damn it Jim, I'm a dotor not a mechanic
And just which "dotor" am I, MRO?
Am I a "doter" in that I show excessive love or fondness for TRBIG... or are you inferring that my dotage is a sign of mental deterioration?

    "TRBIG..."
    "Friend TRBIG...,"
See how easily the words drip off my tongue... like that coppery tasting spittle that portends a bout of vomiting...
One shouldn't misinterpret my use of the platitude "FRIEND".
Isn't that the same homily that I bestow unto street beggars?
"Here you go, FRIEND, have a few nickles."
It's just a word that I use to give false hopes of an enhanced status to the downtrodden and truly wretched.
One of society's little manipulative phrases.
As Fred hinted at... isn't it always a "friend" that wants something from you?
"I'm your friend, loan me some money..."
"I'm your friend, let me borrow your car..."
"I'm your friend... why sure I'll keep your wife company while you're out of town."

No, my use of the word friend to TRBIG is the same as me patting the head of a stray, lost child... or saying "Gee, I'm sorry..." to a sports figure with a career ending injury.
A small charity... something given to the undeserving... that's all.

    Note to "The Lorax":
I wear my black heart like a "black hat".

      "So " friend" Fred...
Does this mean you want your money back?"

      Hi Tod,
the ONLY people I have ever given money to in exchange for being screwed are the Federal and Provincial Governments. And that has always been under duress and I never did enjoy it at all.

        "As mentioned earlier..."

I loan money to friends... and never see them again.
        It's always worth it.

"Here you go, FRIEND, have a few nickles.... or one of my XS motorcycles"

That's the sentence I have been waiting for... Friend Prometheus. I'll even let you pat my head in sympathy.

It runs now and fires right up, but it needs carb cleaning/tuning as it idles up on its own. Everything seems to work that I have tested with the exception of the front brakes they need to be bled and maybe even a caliper rebuild.

So what do you guys think?

                  Thank you,

                  Scott,

Just trying to give you a ballpark idea on whay you might expect to get for it. I am certainly no salesman or expert on this, simply passing my info.

I just bought two bikes on ebay in Dec. One is a 1980 Yamaha XS1100 SG, the other is a '81 XS1100 SH. Both run but the 81 has problems with 2nd gear. Both need some major work on cleaning, painting, new upholstery for the seats.

I got both bikes for a total of $925 and think I made out pretty good in the deal.

                  Good luck,

                  Don

Sounds like you did well. The bike will be going on ebay with no reserve if I don't sell it soon. Whatever I get for the bike, I get.

No worries, I do not have a fab shop, I just build bikes out of my garage because thats where I find myself at peace with the world.
