I put my '79 serial number into your text. I don't have the '78 serial number handy, but I'll add it later.
As an aside, I DO know of the location of 2H7-000103 !! The owner is NOT part of this group, but lives in North Monterey County. He still ride the bike now and then, so it IS running, but needs a restore.Ray Matteis

Copied your list and added my bikes
In an effort to find out how many of these bikes were made, lets try a game of one up-manship on serial numbers!
My Canadian 80G is serial number 000298, so I have entered it in the chart. Only enter yours if it is HIGHER than the one in the chart for your year and model. If there is no number for yours (?) please, enter it for us.

Keeping with idea of thread!
Hey Steve,
Yeah, that's right about Miyami, but as Da-Bubble posted, his SF is the 15,968th one built! In the beginning of the thread, it was asked that folks only post their Ser. #. IF theirs is higher than the ones already posted, in an attempt to keep the # of posts down, so folks can easily/quickly follow the count, and we can possibly determine a quick estimate of what the most # of each model/year was built. I didn't mean to single you out to pick on you or anything, just to bring to light the direct purpose of the thread to try to keep it from getting too unweildly, too many pages to read thru!? Please don't take this as any kind of slam or reprimand, it's not, just an FYI for the other Xsives!

Hey TC to really keep it simple why not stop now with this mixed model thread and start a thread for each model and hope that only the numbers will be posted?

Thread RE-opened and new threads added!
Okay folks,
I've created several threads with the same theme as this one, but realized that putting each year/model into a separate thread would be too many, so I lumped the years together.
But hopefully this will make it a little easier to add your Ser. # to the specific category IF it's larger than the ones already posted in those threads! I don't think we'll have that many Canuck/UK/Aust replies, that's why I just kept the same years, no matter WHERE it was made!

Hey Airflo,
According to the thread/tip in the MISC Forum section on Serial #'s, here's what it says about yours!
1981 XS1100S 5K7-010101 New Yamaha Black Europe
So...even though it wasn't registered until '84, according to the Engine #(....btw, is the frame # the same?) then it's an '81 model
Special, EURO 1.1, and it looks like they made quite a few of them, at over 11,000 of them again according to your #!
The Specials are known for the teardrop tanks, the leading fork axle design vs. at the bottom of the fork tubes, smaller 16" rear wheel, round headlight/gauges. But with the Euro 1.1, I've seen some photos, but can't recall all of the cosmetic differences.
Hope this helps?

Hi Airflow, If yours is a Euro XS1100s, it should have a slightly odd looking bikini fairing w/ dark tinted screen, with a huge round headlight in it. It would also have a small dash panel above the round instruments with a Yamaha digital clock in it. They have narrow 3 piece adjustable handlebars. The sport shares the special's 15 litre teardrop tank and the motor is blacked out except alt. cover centres etc. Mudguards are black too. Originally, they came with a black chrome type 4-2 exhaust and slotted disc rotors and curved spoke rims. The rear is a 17" unlike the special. Front forks are leading axle legs but have conventional type calipers unlike the Specials rocking setup.
Hope this helps.
Errol
