well got up this morning and started cleaning connection's. boy it that a job!things seem to work better have a few more connections to clean.tomarrow will finish that up.check battery voltage was showing 13.2@ 3,000 rpm is this okay ? i know on cars anything between 13.2~14.5 is acceptable. but not sure on bikes seems to me its a tad bit low I still have a flicker in the lighting cleaned all the grounds today except the one from the engine frame you know the one under the air box. well clean it in the morning hopefully that will make the flicker go away. If not probably looking at a new regulator/rectifier. or possiable a stator. will look and see if i can find a tech link for testing the stator.seems to me i saw one. Will change fuse box as well just to remove it from the list of possiable source's.

I know i have asked this before but sometimes i forget on my carbs this is what ive done to them

    140 mains
    45 pilots
needles in stock position am screws 1 1/2 turns out
    floats 25mm
she is running a little richer than i like i can smelland see it in the exhaust
was thinking of going back to stock pilots or should i try moving the needles first and change my float level to see what that does or should i just leave it alone and drill holes in the airbox

Pacifico fairing 4 into one exhaust

    Flicker?
if it's all the lights, including idots...would check ignition switch too.
Also when you take the fuse box off you will find three connectors there. One in particular related to alternator, another for the pick-up coil wires. 13+ volts sounds good to me.

Have you adjusted the pilot screws or just set em to 1 1/2 turns.
Could be that there just out a little to much.....

I would try dropping the float to 24mm. DO NOT forget to check the connector for the ignition switch. This is one of the two that will cause problems, and is directly related to charging. I would change the fuse block BEFORE trying to get the "flicker" out. You may find you no longer have the problem

        Hey Ray,

I'm sure it's the jetlag again, but he's already at 25mm, and it seems to be still a little rich, so he would possibly want to raise them to ~26 to help lean them out just a touch.

However, IF the bikes been sitting and not running, then it could also be matter of getting it running to be able to run it for a few hundred miles to help reseat the rings, etc.!?

MrUtah, I have plenty of those fuseblocks available, see the tech tip in the MODS, replacing the fuseblock, at the end of the thread is the purchase info. The photo is reduced to a thumbnail due to Photodump's recent changes to how they NOW don't allow direct linking to photos. You can bring up the properties of the thumbnail, and paste that URL into a NEW browser window and then you will be able to see the photo full size!

Also, it's recommended to make 1 carb adjustment at a time, like the floats, OR the needles, etc, but not both at the same time!

Well, at 3k rpm, the 13 volts does seem a bit low, should be closer to 14.0 to 14.5, but that may improve with a new fuseblock, and cleanign the rest of the connectors, especially behind the fuseblock! Keep at it, you'll get it!
