Cody,a couple of things you said last nite got me thinking some more abt the sport/tour genre. If you were going to take a long trip in a car, would you prefer to be in a sports car or a luxury car?If you are opting for comfort and stability on the road you would opt for the bigger, hence heavier car.The ride quality and stability in truck traffic and crosswinds make it a much more stable platform.Your comment abt the ST13 is correct .It is heavier but on the road that translates to a more comfortable ride and more stability in the dirty air of other vehicles..especially trucks. The ST may is slower off the line than the Connie and the Connie has the edge in weight and quicker handling. But its engine isn't as smooth as the Honda V-4...plus the gas tank on the ST is close to 7.5 gals vs. the Connie's 5.8 gallons. What really is more important in my mind is how each bike adresses the whole equation of sport/touring.While some aspects of the Kawi are better than the ST...its how do the respective machines do in regards to the total pkg?Thats why IMHO the ST wins the sport/tour genre. It doesn't stand out in any one area but as a total pkg.it does everything well.I would be interested in seeing if the Connie comes out as favorably adressing the whole concept of sport/touring.I doubt I am changing your mind and i am not really trying to.While we are on the subject..have you looked at the Suzuki Bandit 1250S?It is 500 lbs with the ABS option and has gobs of torque.A lower fairing and touring luggage can be added as well.I haven't ridden one but I know several ppl who own them and ofc they love the Bandit.Just my .02 cents here.

I'm not changing my mind. I'm getting the MONSTER.

The ST is a LEAD SLED....that means it's TOO heavy. The Concours is heavy enough ... heavier than the FJR an others. It's no lightweight.

Certianly it would be nice to have a little extra fuel. But as long as the bike will take me 200+ with a lttle in reserve I'm satisfied because I rarely stay in the seat for more than 2 hours before I wanna get off anyway. Most of the guys I'm talking to say they're getting 38 to 40. So it'll do.

For you sport touring may be more about "touring" or comfort. I certainly want comfort....but not at the expense of performance.

If the C14 was a torture rack I would not have it regardless of performance If I was concerned soley with that aspect I'd just buy a Busa.

Several guys have done easy mods to the C14(slip-on, flies out, PC remap) and realize 147 to 151 hp at the rear wheel! That's Busa territory without a seating postion that twists you into a pretzel...add hardbags and thats my idea of a sport touring bike.

The seating position on this Connie is more comfy than my ZRX and I've ridden that one 1200 miles in a weekend.

If I was soley taken with comfort...I'd just buy a Wing.

The C14 seems to me a perfect balance between the two...a "BusaWing" of sorts...hehehe...

Anyone paying thousands and thousands for an old bike based on 30 year old technology is the idiot, not me. But good luck to them anyway, obviously more money than sense there. Fancy giving that much cash to a wanker like maxxy! Where's the justice in this world! ha-ha

Back to the real world, old musclebikes are still my favourites because they're such good value for money, for a few hundred bucks up to, say, 2 grand tops for an immaculate one, you're getting a strong long lasting and comfortable ride with an awesome motor, brilliant!

Of course there's dimwits out there who'll throw wads of cash at anything just to pose and look the part - but I still sit back and shake my head in disbelief ...

Patty - why do you even post in threads that deal with me or mine? I simply do not understand you. It is like you are trying to start a fight.

I have never gone into one of your threads...a thread that is primarily about you or one of your mods and said anything derogatory about you or your ideas. NEVER.

Yet you continue to do it to me. Are you obsessed with me? You must be. You follow me around like a little lost puppy. I would find that flattering. But it's too weird.

It would be laughable...but it is really sad. You must be a miserable slug of a man (or BOY...whatever the case) if you have nothing better to do than following me around. Like I said up thread... you're obviously jealous....or obsessed or something weird.

Who knows. Your probably just a poser....a troll. It's for certain I don't know anyone that can confirm you are even for real...that has actually met you in real life. Odds are you're some 12 year old punk in Dorkwad, Nebraska with othing better to do.

Just go away little boy. You are like a fly at the dining table. Very insignificant...but very annoying. I suppose you enjoy being a pest. What a loser!

Why do you keep posting back here Patty? This thread has nothing to do with you. It's about me selling one of my bikes. Why do you care so much?

Ahhhhh...how sweet and touching. Patty cares about Maximan!

Well it should be expected...join the throngs Patricia...everybody likes me!

                    • Hey Max/Cody,

This IS a public forum, and as such, Patrick has just as much a right to post his comments and opinions as anybody else, since YOU publicly posted to THIS thread about this event!

You could just ignore Pggg's comments if you wanted to, but instead you seem to be trying to stir up yet another verbal fight here!?

I think your machine is a beautiful thing with some very good modifications, but I also don't believe that it would necessarily be worth plunking down $7.5 K for it!? But as we have said here before, a bike is worth what someone is willing to pay for it! Congrats on being able to sell it for that!

I would AGAIN ask you both to please stop posting inflammatory comments, like calling someone's bike a "crappy old bike" and someone and idiot and such, it's getting old, and I'm tired of closing threads!

Yes and he could do the same.

                          I challenge YOU TC!!!

Find one post ...one thread at this entire forum where I went and picked a fight with pggg. FIND ONE!

Just one TC...where he was posting something about his bike or mods...and I went into that thread and started blasting him.

                          It hasn't happened.

                          • Hey Max/Cody,

I'm sorry you feel this way. I did state that PGGG cast the first blast by his statement calling your fine machine a "Crappy old bike", read my last post a little closer....possibly with a cooler head? Secondly, I also stated that you posted publicly into THIS thread....not that YOU started it!

Here at Channel 11 we have definitely benefitted from your ingenuity, time, efforts, into trying to make our machines better, more fuel efficient, more powerful, more beautiful, etc.. But regrettably not everyone has appreciated your work, and has felt the need to speak negatively about it! Whether it be constructive criticism or not, it's still just another person's opinion, and can be received, and acted upon accordingly, with proper decorum, ie. factual data to counter comments in the spirit of a true intellectual debate, without the need for degrading into a verbal onslaught on folk's character.

I've learned that I can't please everyone. When I developed the SOFA, it wouldn't work for some folks with the crossover pipes where they needed to pull the headers to change their filter! It also wasn't useful for folks with oil coolers, but thru technical discussions with XSChop and such, a new design was developed that would allow oil cooler folks the benefit of the SOFA! IT's not a perfect design, and still doesn't work for everyone, not everyone feels it's necessary or wants it, and have commented accordingly, and I accept that, but I still make them for those that DO appreciate it's design, it's functionality.

SO what I'm saying is that it's your choice to stay or leave XS11.com as you have PM'd me about doing. It's a shame to let all that you have done go down the drain just for the actions/opinions of 1 person that doesn't appreciate your work.
I remember a simple phrase from childhood that might be helpful to review: "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me" !

Here's hoping a cooler headed Cody will reflect on this and decide it's not worth being driven off by the opinions of one naysayer!?

TC it sounds to me like you are accusing Max of stirring up the muck when in fact Pggg's comments had already done so.I have seen this guy in other posts belittling Max and I am sure he was fed up with it.So the stuff did fly...isn't there a function on this forum to block and /or ignore those ppl we dont want to hear from? What abt the idea of blocking a member from joining a thread in which another member does not want them to join?Personally I was shocked by both sides exchanges. It just seems a bit ridiculous.
