Cody,a couple of things you said last nite got me thinking some more abt the sport/tour genre. If you were going to take a long trip in a car, would you prefer to be in a sports car or a luxury car?If you are opting for comfort and stability on the road you would opt for the bigger, hence heavier car.The ride quality and stability in truck traffic and crosswinds make it a much more stable platform.Your comment abt the ST13 is correct .It is heavier but on the road that translates to a more comfortable ride and more stability in the dirty air of other vehicles..especially trucks. The ST may is slower off the line than the Connie and the Connie has the edge in weight and quicker handling. But its engine isn't as smooth as the Honda V-4...plus the gas tank on the ST is close to 7.5 gals vs. the Connie's 5.8 gallons. What really is more important in my mind is how each bike adresses the whole equation of sport/touring.While some aspects of the Kawi are better than the ST...its how do the respective machines do in regards to the total pkg?Thats why IMHO the ST wins the sport/tour genre. It doesn't stand out in any one area but as a total pkg.it does everything well.I would be interested in seeing if the Connie comes out as favorably adressing the whole concept of sport/touring.I doubt I am changing your mind and i am not really trying to.While we are on the subject..have you looked at the Suzuki Bandit 1250S?It is 500 lbs with the ABS option and has gobs of torque.A lower fairing and touring luggage can be added as well.I haven't ridden one but I know several ppl who own them and ofc they love the Bandit.Just my .02 cents here.
