Thanks Kat...from Miles and I both.

And I'll get one to ya.

This motorcycle thing is real fun and all...but Miles and I have a real passion for writing and composing music...recording and producing it.

Miles Baker is a very talented guy and had written some great songs. Most of the stuff on this album we co-wrote. But the best song on the CD is his..."New Day".

Anyway the point of my prescribed post wasn't to bring my music out of the closet here at channel Eleven. It was to try an explain somethign to my buddy Tod about selling a bike that I had put endless effort into.

That bike is a work of art so to speak. Personally...for me as an artist....what's the point in hoarding it all to my self. It makes me happy if some one else can ride it and get as big a kick out of it as I have. Same goes for my music. What good would it do to keep it all on my hard drive ...all to myself and not let others enjoy it.

Some people will enjoy the music....some people will not. Just like Zilla. Most people like Zilla...but I've had a few around here even that have said it wasn't their cup of tea...a full dresser.

That's cool. It ain't for every body. But for the ones that enjoy it...rock on!

I knew about the music thing. We have discussed it before and you sent me links. I didn't know Miles was involved in it also.

If you are looking at it in this way as an artist... then it makes a little more sense I guess. I know Wildkat puts HOURS AND HOURS into paintings and other things, then gets excited to get a 99 cent bid on Ebay for them. Just to know that someone else wants it and that it will be out there being enjoyed. Don't get me wrong... she'd love to get rich off of it... but that's not why she does it.

So... in the process of cleaning up my XJ a little for the 1179 install. At least now I have a slight chance of having the best XJ at a ride. Not much.... but a slight one!

As far as you and Miles balling up fists. You I could see that from... but Miles? lol. And nothing personal... but I believe he's gonna have quite the reach advantage on you! lol.

          Tod

Good. Then you understand where I'm coming from. I knew Kat would get it because she's "one of us"...a flaky artist type.

What Miles and I go through co-writing is a love hate thing. I call it "creative tension".

It's not Miles physical size (6-5 240 lbs) that is so imposing. It's his mind set. If a guy really was foolish enough to lock horns with the Mix Meister he'd better pack a lunch. Miles would be very "artistic" in his approach to a street fight. There would be no limit to his ability to creativity of inflicting pain. I'm certain after watching him work in a recording studio for almost a decade...he could paint a very vivid and unique picture on an opponent...

Having said that. It would take an enormous effort to get him to that point. But if you ever did........uuuuugh!

            Did the buyer actually pay?

Am I the only one curious as to whether or not the bike actually sold? Last I knew, the auction closed at $7901 and you were skeptical that they wouldn't pay.....did they? Is the Zilla Monster gone?

I got the check in the mail today!

                A Bad Company song comes to mind..."...she's gone gone gone...I don't know if I'll cry...I don't know if I'll die....laughin'!"

Well I guess ... when the check clears the bank...that will turn the page on that chapter in my biker life.

I hope the guy gets as much joy out of that machine as I have. He certainly got a "one of kind" bike. There ain't a nuther like it on the planet!

I really hope he shows up here at Channel Eleven soon. It would be really cool if we could keep old Zilla iin the family so to speak.

Oh well I still have the Time Machine.

Hmmmm....I wonder how much juice I could get out of the Super Standard with that much moola? Mwhahahahaha...

                    Yep, sure did!

Speaking of songs... a Damn Yankee song comes to mind about the Voyager.

"I was a loner cruisin with the wind
I wasn't looking when you pulled me in
I had to leave you, like I always did
you knew damn well I'd come again..."

                    "Come Again" by Damn Yankees
Co-Written by Tommy Shaw (Styx Legend. Probably on of my favorite bands!)

I am going to pick it up tomorrow, down in Houston.

                    I am so AMPED!!!!!

Gonna try to take it to the Hill Country in November with SWMBO.

A couple years ago my uncle traded his Voyager for a brand new GoldWing 1800. He told me in some ways he wished he hadn't done it. He said the Voyager didn't have quite the power but had A LOT more storage space.

Good luck and hope you like your new bike.

                        Thanks, Maximan!

Yeah, the trunk fits both helmets and rain gear! The Side trunks look like they will fit enough clothes and stuff for a few days really easily.

I know I will enjoy it. Of course, the question now is, which rig will I bring to the next Talimena rally? Love my XS, but boy howdy, that Voyager looks like it would be comfortable on a 1500 mile jaunt!

I can tell you...I don't plan on riding my '79 standard much. I'm looking for a pristine OEM exhaust (the one on Ebay right now isn't quite slick enough) to restore the bike to perfect originality....then I'm "sitting" on it for a while. I think the value of original low miles Elevens may rise significantly in the near future...specualtion I suppose.

Odds are next rally I attend I'll be on a Concours. Imagine that ... me and Greg showing up at an Eleven rally on a couple of Kaws.....moo!

I don't think he'd have any but I'll check. I think this is why he uses Jardine and MAC stuff because that's all ya can get now that is new...and since he's selling "new" rebuilds he can't settle for seconds.
