Yes it would be a cool place...most people on this forum have no idea what Eskimo Joe's is. But many times when they see "Buffy and Joe" logo a light comes on.
But the choices of roads to ride around here are limited. Other than riding from here to Bartlesville via Cleveland and Pawnee....the rest of the routes are boring...straight....and flat. Of course that can be good thing after leaving Joe's...
I met a guy couple months ago in a Walmart parkin' lot; had had an XS11 for 20 years. Sold it and now proud owner of 2006 Concours for 6 months. (Of course, not the same as this NEW Concours). We talked for about an hour; he had to hear the "whole story", about my XS having the Concours gas tank on it for the last 6 years, from the 86 Concours that I had gotten new and rode for 2 years. ...................and then, of course, the "whole story" about the VMax sissy bar from my new 88 Vmax, that I had for about 2 years~~sissy bar, now being the headlite bracket for my 81XS Special. Most of the conversation wuz about XS's.
Oh yes....RAY has been to the famous cafe! Of course Ray returned the favor and brought me to a famous cafe on his home turf too! Alices.
For some strange reason I'd rather have a rally at Alice's than at Joe's.
olnortonrider - there is a reason the Eleven dominates the conversation. The Eleven has has something no Concours...no FJR...nor any other bike will ever have. The Eleven has CHARACTER.
Of course I must re-iterate this. Some of you fellas seem to be getting this thread confused with my "new bike in my future" thread. I can not say this enough:
The purchase of a 2008 Connie is not dependent on the sale of Zilla. Secondly the odds of Zilla actually selling on Ebay next week are about 1101 to 1....actually they are probably closer to 1196 to 1.

Ye, you never know. In 1996 I was in a town called Luckavoc in Bosnia. I was in a army convoy pulling into our camp there. A local Bosnian was walking out the gate as we were walking in and guess what type of shirt he was wearing? What was even funnier was his English was terrible. But he could clearly say "Eat at Joe's" as he was pointing to the shirt when I asked him about it.
I know...it's amazing. I have seen Joe's Clothes from coast to coast and even in Europe. Eskimo Joe's sells a heck of a lot more "Tee" shirts than burgers. It's a huge part of their business. Mail order and online is a big deal with tem marketing thier clothing.
But sadly it will soon end. Within 10 years the polar ice caps will melt (according to Nobel laureate Al) and Eskimo Joe will cease to exsist.

So I'm gathering you have no intention of selling Zilla? Did you just want to tease everybody?!!!!

Oh I don't know, a '78E sold for AU$5,800 here the other day. I wouldn't be suprised if the reserve is around five grand. You get what you pay for I guess.

Yes it has the mod. I just forgot to mention it. Most people wouldn't even know what I was talking about anyway nor would they care...because in truth this bike is so utterly "modded" it's no where near stock in any way.
Well I was a bit pessimistic but closer than my "XSive" buddy.
See I had a little wager going. One day a few weeks ago we were admiring our bikes. He said Zilla would sell for 6 thousand dollars.
I told him he was nuts. I've been following Elevens on Ebay...Cycletrader...and classified ads for several years now and have NEVER seen one go for more than $5000. Actually the highest one I ever saw one go on Ebay was a pristine Venturer ('81) with less than 5000 miles in upstate NY. I think I recall $3250. It looked showroom new in the photos. Makes ya wonder how the High Priest snags 12 Gs for one doesn't it?
Anyway my guess was half his. I figure the old Yamadog might fetch $3000 but probably in reality closer to $2500. I was a little off but it seems the bidding has hit the notorious "EBAY LULL" for the sum of $3050 with a little more than 3 days left on the bidding.
If you're experienced at Ebay then you know there is a lull in bidding about half way through the gig. Sometimes you'll go 2 or 3 days in the middle of the auction with no bids. Then the closing minutes of the auction the bidding will resume and the item's bid will jump between 20 and 30 percent of the pre-lull bid. If this deal holds true to form the big lizard might see a top bid of $3800...possibly $4000. But nowhere near 6 grand.
Interestng experiment...and well worth the $40 bucks for the information.
Hmmmmm....I wonder what it would fetch at the beggining of next season...oh say APRIL?
Well one thing I am going to try to do this off season is get the Time Machine 100% original. All I need to do that is a set of pristine 78-79 standard pipes.
