Every time I sneeze I have to re-sync and colortune . Well I dont HAVE to - I just want to cause I can .
I think my resent experiments with acetone calls for a sync /colortune .

    • What'd you do with Acetone? Increase your octane?

I had a buddy that poured a little 30% Nitromethane (for R/C cars) in his Mazda RX-7 at the dragstrip. Gave him a little extra boost.....of course it also melted the plastic injectors!

          • Joey,

Thanks! Do a search for "Dyna rear fender" on ebay and you'll find a bunch. I think I paid about $36 for mine. You can find them at swap meets too. The year doesn't matter that much since Harley hasn't changed much over the last...oh...100 years or so.

            Good Luck

Did you notice my professional carb tuning in my signature? I think I want to try and drop the needles one notch. I'm talking the large needles that run thru the emulsion tubes. I was talking to the local old yammy professional and he said that will lean them out. I am still super rich and it stumbles under full throttle at 4k.

If I do this will I have to reset the idle mixture screws and re-sinc?

Whoops, a little late with an answer= been spending alot of time in the garage lately. Give me a call when you get a chance.

I feel kinda exhaulted to be associated with such a cool machine

                • Sub! Sup?

Hey cool bike! Did you do the red stripe on the wheels the same way I did? You engine looks great!

Maybe we can get together sometime and ride? I can't find the distance online but it must only be about 10,000 miles or so. If Burt Munro was still around we could all meet at Bonneville! I love that movie!

They say imitation is the best form of flattery right?

                    • Da-Bubble, where did you relocate the electronics from the rear fender? Or is that model different from the XS? I am wanting to do a custom similar to yours and was figuring I could hide the electronics in the toll case behind the carbs. Anyone done this?

                      • I was wondering the same thing Ken. Maybe it is a change holder for the toll booths or maybe a fancy spitoon.

I removed the tool case and rivited a 1/8th thick ally plate approx 4"x6"to the back of the battery box. This left enough room between the rear fender and the battery for the IG box to be bolted in place without having to alter any of the factory wiring loom or plugs..Tool box never carried anything anyway so I dont miss it.

The blue"cup" is a bird bath on my front lawn about 15' away from the bike, didnt even think about it ending up in the pic till after posting it. I guess I could edit the pic, but Im not very good at photoshopping and would probably make a hash of it.

De Baba. re the red strip on the wheels, yes, I did it the same way you did it, red first, taped out the stripe and the wheel rim edge, then painted it black, the final 2 coats of clear when over that. I left the edge of the rim bare because I change my own tyres and didnt want to chip the edge of the black paint. The end result IMO, enhances the bright work on the motor.

                            • It's looking great, I'm lovin it, other than the rear fender looks like a Harley. Wheels, rims, little short shocks, double light, all very cool. Do you think you could get your buddy to make me some gas tank logos like the old nortons that say notorious. I'm just starting my next "winter project". It's a 1200 super xs. The Notorious xs12!

Mine is an XS! I just trimmed and re-used my plastic inner fender and the CDI box is just bolted to it. Just like it was from the factory except a little further down towards the battery. Works fine and took 2 minutes to relocate!
