  • Another carb ID needed

I have some XS carbs that have later style bodies, brass floats, push-in seats, and are jetted with 115 and 120 mains. Mainly need to know what the proper float heights should be.

Didn't they use the brass on the 78 and 79 and the plastic on the 80 and 81? 78-79 I think floats were 25.7mm and 23mm 80-81. Wierd though the jets sound like 80-81.

The floats are probably some that were swapped because the 80-81 carbs did have the plastic floats. I have put plastic floats in the 78 carbs on my 80. I set them to 23mm, as per the spec for the 80-81.

Would not of thought plastic/brass floats would change float spec height. Weird that when I changed a set out of a 79 special and set em to 25.7mm bike ran fine.

I forgot to mention that they also have the bolt drain bowls of the old style instead of the screw drain.

The brass floats would be for the 78-79 carbs.
              I could be wrong.

If the bodies are late model
id set the floats at 23mm and go from there. :-)
