HI, I have a 81 XS1100SH. I have had a problem getiing it to run right. I have replaced just about everything and found out the other day I had a dead cell in my battery. Would this play a big part in it not running 100%? Thanks

If when running if you have 12 + volts should run OK.
Over 2,000/2,500 rpm should be over 13 volts.
TCI requires 10 + volts to fire ignician.
Bad battey can cause problems.
replaced just about everything
and a little bit about condition and history of your special.

btw, welcome to XSland

Yes, Welcome!
Like MRO said, TCI needs ~10.5 volts to work properly. With a dead cell, if you have 8=(1.5 volts missing), drops 12 to ~10.5 volts.....so this very well could be your problem. Relatively simple fix. Once you get a new battery IF it's still misbehaving, come on back and post a better history, symptoms, etc., and we'll have a go at it!

Thanks for your response, My Xs is in great shape. I have replaced the coils (used), volt reg, carbs, rejetted. It has a 4 into 1 and individual air filters. Vacuum diaphram has been replaced also. My battery does have a dead cell and once it charges it drops off voltage rapidly. I have worked on this bike all summer and I am about to go nuts.Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks for your help, Jim
