  • stops running after 30 min

hello all heres my latest question.....fisrt my bike stoped running after rideing for about 30min it sputterd and died no matter how much throttle i gave it( like some one turnd a switch off).
so i thought maybe the ignition module was over heating and changed it
,,,,,, no change,so i changed the coils out,,,still no change
so the real question is whats left that can effect the bike in such a manner?

after the bike sits for 10 to 15 min it will restart and but not run real smooth unless its left for a long while an hour or so

ok this one gose to the think tank.

literally! Try running with the gas cap open. If the breather valve in the cap sticks fuel will stop flowing to the carbs. Then after it sits for a while the vacuum in the tank finally returns to normal and it will run again.

Should have checked if it had spark when condition occured.
      (easy/quick to check)
      No spark?
      Would check coils and/or TCI
      Got spark?
Check that carbs are getting fuel
      (gas cap vent plugged?)

Also check that the engine is not OVERHEATING. If it is being starved of fuel it will run leaner and HOTTER as the fuel supply dried up until the engine dies. I bet it fires up after it cools off ... right.

              Check this

Ballast resistors have been known to get hot and open. After cooling down they work again 'till they get hot again.....

Left side, under gastank, just above valve cover, red/white wires going to it! Jumper the wires together that you remove from it on the frame side.

I thought we had a photo, and we did, it was in the Dyna Coil replacement tip!! It's just below the rubber gas tank cushion, so yes, it's silvery shiny!
