Is the 2nd picture a 14T (78mm) an if not what would be the 14t 530 width with the chain?

They're 13 tooth sprockets in those pics, diameter including chain reads 80.5 mm, from memory again the 14 tooth are about another 2 or 3 mm bigger in diameter, 630 pitch sprockets are the same width as 530, thats the 30 as in 3/8ths width, the sprocket width is slightly smaller than the inside chain width, the 6 means 6/8ths of an inch in pitch, thats distance between links, a 630 wouldn't suit the smaller than usual 13 and 14 tooth front sprocket, 630 is more or less obsolete, GSXR11's and a few other older models used it, but most convert to 530, the harley guy was all garbage, the modern 150 HP grunters such as Busas and litre sportbikes all use 530

Just to throw a wench into the works here .... Could this be set up as a belt drive? Would be even lighter, quieter and would be cleaner

          Hey Rob,

Let's keep the SWMBO's out of this, although we know how good they are with CHAINS!!

I believe it was AudiJunky that looked into belt drive, but had problems with the circumference of the drive sprockets and engine case clearance and such. However, this rig has the sprocket mounted at the end of the drive shaft, instead of the middle, but still not sure about the clearance of the engine case!?

            case clearance

I R&D'd it on pepe today. I am going to machine an area 2mm deep where there is a protrusion where the case splits apart. No big deal. I ground mine( the engine case) off @ 1 mm to fit because I wanted to make sure that was the only obstacle....no problem.... I have to also machine a spacer for the swingarm bolt to line the chain with the front sprocket....depending on whatever S/A you use you will need various spacers...I got lucky and used two from the donor middle drive gears that were 25mm I.D. Also I will be glad to machine a 1-piece swingarm pivot rod to mate to the xs11 pivot bolts if it is 25mm width.....As a heads up if you did'nt see the old posts, the ideal swingarm will use a 25mm o.d. swingarm bolt, this IMO is the ideal width because you have to machine a 17mm pivot bolt hole at both ends and my ass wouldn't ride on anything less structural! Plus most newer swingarms use 25mm swingarm bearings

                  swingarms

R1, R6, kawasaki zx11,GPZ, honda cbr swingarms with less than 11.5 inch pivot to pivot..... IMHO any swingarm with 10 to 11.5" end to end pivot points and 110mm centerline to rear sprocket can be easily applied to this chaindrive as member Pggg has already shown.... I really am liking the new 07 r1 swingarms because they can have rear shock mount locations easily welded to them.....

                      get r' dun

realisticaly about another weekend. I am taking vacation sept 1-4 to make sure the complete package with new fender/tail light is also done. I still need a 13t sprocket and chain. I will run the 13t up front for a while then check out the 14t....I got lucky and got a 42t rear sprocket already on the Triumph swingarm.....I am also busy making two more drives for other members as well, these things are time consuming even with the CNC programming already done.....more to come, chop

For easy straight bolt on to fit XS11 twin shocks, the shocks 275 apart, can stretch that to 295 at the most with the right sized bushes on the top mounts, this one's spaced out an extra 10 on one side to clear the chain

Hello fellas, just got caught up reading the posts. Chop that housing looks awesome. Love what ya got going on. Just FYI the sprockets that fit are for the Honda C77 and sprocket specialist does have'em I think like 25 bucks. And I got my 530 O ring chain (mine which is really long like 130 links) from moto-chains.com for 175.00 I think or around there)
Pggg I have a solid setup on my rear end and it rides pretty smooth not jerky or anything at all. I cant really tell the difference between shaft and chain. except for the excelleration due to gearing
sprocketspecialist also has a tool on their website to help you figure out how many links you will need.

                            New swingarm

just checked the measurements and 2007 R1 swingarm is 10.25" pivot to pivot and a whopping 23 length and can use it's original monoshock with battery relocation, or do the R1 monoshock Mod that I spelled out..........or stock shocks with tabs easily welded to the swingarm....It's a new brutal design, just what the 11 needs and I forgot to mention the rear sprockets are endless in tooth sizes, and a stock 190 tire to boot

I have seen some older chain conversions and they look primitive compaired to yours. Looks like good clean work. I have lots of old middle gear cases that I have collected over the years. If you need a couple for R&D let me know.

Thanks for the compliment and offer. I currently have 8 good MD housings and two cut-up ones. If you ever plan to do a wide- tire SHAFT drive, then you will need one of those housings for a donor, spacer....Chop
